Student Counselling
Through individual counselling and follow up services, Student Counsellors assist students to deal with interpersonal relationship, psychological, emotional, behavioral, adjustment, learning and family problems, etc. Case referral service to the students will be provided when necessary.
Student Counsellors also organise community exploring, social skills training and sex education workshops, etc. to help students understand the community, utilize the community resources and learn the proper attitude to get along with opposite sex.
Individual Education Plan (IEP)
Students who are in need will be referred to join an Individual Education Plan (IEP). According to the individual learning and development needs of the students, corresponding learning support and recommendations on diverse teaching strategies for students and their parents, teachers and counsellors will be provided by Educational Psychologists, so that our students will be well-prepared for sustainable development and employment.
Occupational Therapy
In order to improve students' sensory, perceptual and physical functions, and strengthen their abilities in self-care, community adjustment and open employment, Shine Skills Centre has registered Occupational Therapists providing professional assessment, individual and group therapeutic activities, loan of technical aids, environmental modification and consultation service to unleash the potentials of our students.
Besides, Occupational Therapists organize regular vocational health workshops to equip students with appropriate knowledge, such as manual handling operation, work-related musculoskeletal disorders and stress management.
Nursing and Health Care Education
Shine Skills Centre has Registered Nurses on duty to provide the following services to students:
(1) First-aid service: Provide first-aid, wound dressing and care service for needy students. Serious cases will be referred to hospitals for Accident & Emergency (A&E) care immediately after the first-aid treatment.
(2) General health care service: Follow up on student cases, provide health care assessments and after-care service.
(3) Health tips: Enhance students’ awareness of personal and environmental hygiene, balanced diet and appropriate physical exercises, and prevention of diseases, etc. through seminars, posters, leaflets, videos, etc.
(4) Advisory service: Handle student inquiries on health care and sickness as well as provide health counselling.
