Industrial Attachment

Students will be arranged to participate in different internships by the Shine Skills Centre in order to practise the knowledge they learnt from the lessons, enhance their employment skills and strengthen their employment competitiveness. On the other hands, students will earn work experience through the “Social Enterprise Mode of Practical Training” and “Internship scheme”. Students will have comprehensive preparedness of engaging workplace in the future while they build up good work habits and positive work attitudes.

Service Flow

 

1. Placement matching

Student Counsellors work out with Class Teachers and Support Service Staff to identify suitable industrial attachment for the students based on their abilities and interests. They also provide pre-placement counselling to help students adapt.

 

2. During the placement

Student Counsellors continue to work with Class Teachers and Support Service Staff to look at students’ needs and help them solve the problems for setting in. They:

  • • visit the students at workplaces and liaise with their peer workers to understand the performance and needs of the students, help them get familiarized with the work environment and strengthen their confidence;
  • • discuss subsequent learning arrangements with Class Teachers in case the employment require trade skills that the students need further nourishing;
  • • work out with the students’ employers / supervisors for co-assessing the students’ performance during the placement; and
  • • discuss adjustments with the students’ employers / supervisors such as rearranging the workflow, or offering counseling service to help students’ adaptation.

The company is encouraged to give allowance to cover students’ basic expenses.
