The 11th Hong Kong Abilympics
27 students of Shine Skills Centres achieved excellent results at the 11th Hong Kong Abilympics, winning a total of 34 awards, including 3 Grade I Awards (一等獎), 24 Grade II Awards (二等獎), and 7 Good Performance Awards (優異奬).
Known as the "Olympics of Skills for Persons with Disabilities”, the Abilympics is a quadrennial event that recognizes the professional excellence and vocational talents of persons with disabilities. The 11th Hong Kong Abilympics is a government-funded programme jointly organized by the Hong Kong Joint Council for People with Disabilities and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, with support from multiple co-organizers including Shine Skills Centres of VTC.
The event was held from 17 to 25 May 2026, with 322 contestants competing in 22 contests covering diverse fields, including information technology, design, crafts, catering and services. VTC organized 10 contests, including 7 by Shine Skills Centres and 3 by Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology. Competitions were held across various VTC venues, including SSC(KT) - Oxford Road Re-provisioned Campus, HKIIT at IVE(TM) and HKDI.
The Prize Presentation Ceremony was held on 11 July 2026 at Kai Tak Community Hall. Mr. Chris Sun, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, officiated as the Guest of Honour. Mr. Donald Tong, GBS, JP, Executive Director of VTC, served as the Award Presenter at the Ceremony. Mr. Sun congratulated the awardees and expressed that persons with disabilities had proven their abilities and potential to excel across a wide range of industries.

We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to all VTC colleagues and units for their invaluable support in coordinating contests, serving as Judges, providing technical support and venues. Participating units included Shine Skills Centres, HKIIT at IVE (LWL), HKIIT at IVE (TM), YC (TM), YC (KB), ProAct (Electronics), ProAct (Precision Engineering), ProAct (Printing), International Culinary Institute, the Department of Communication Design of HKDI. Their collective efforts demonstrate VTC’s strong commitment to supporting and showcasing the talents of persons with disabilities.
