In order to adapt to social changes and work needs, the Shine team continues to keep up with the times in the field of education, by continuously optimizing vocational training courses and strengthening employment counselling services, so that our programme content and support services echo with ever-changing market needs. In July 2018, the Vocational Training Council (VTC) established VTC Social Enterprises Limited which is dedicated to provide more employment and training opportunities for Shine’s graduates and students with its core businesses including the Shine Café, a social enterprise restaurant located at IVE (Morrison Hill), and various themed retail businesses.

VTC has named the Shine Café as “SHINE・LIONS CLUBS CAFÉ" to recognize the generous donation of HKD 2 million from Lion Clubs International District 303 - Hong Kong & Macao, China to support the VTC’s social enterprise in providing specified trainings for Shine's graduates during their transitional phase.

The naming ceremony was held on June 9, 2022. Mr Tony TAI Chark-tong, the Council Chairman , expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Lions Clubs International for their generous support, and paid tribute to their spirit of “We Serve” in serving the community. Lion Amy Leung, District Governor of Lions Clubs International, was impressed by VTC’s philosophy of establishing the social enterprise. She believes that the employment opportunities offered by the Café can help Shine’s graduates and students accumulate work experience, build and enhance their confidence in open employment, cultivate a positive work attitude, and pave the way for engaging workplace in future.

On the ceremony, Lion Amy Leung, the District Governor, presented a cheque to Mr Tony TAI Chark-tong, the Council Chairman. They unveiled a commemorative plaque, together with the VTC's Deputy Executive Directors and members of Lions Clubs International, making the ceremony warm and momentous. The guests then visited SHINE・LIONS CLUBS CAFÉ and had a pleasant conversation with the graduates who worked there. They were very appreciative of the restaurant’s role as a platform for the graduates.

Lion Clubs International District 303 - Hong Kong & Macao, China, hopes that their donation can support the social enterprise restaurant in providing training for Shine's graduates, as well as more training platforms and opportunities for Shine's students and graduates through the networking of Lions Club members, so that they can accumulate more work experience and sustain their employment in the future.
