Shenzhen Study Tour

On 9 April 2024, a study tour composed of the Director of Vocational Training for People with Disabilities Office, the Managers of Shine Skills Centre, and the teaching and support services team visited Shenzhen Baoan Comprehensive Service Base for People with Disabilities, its Su Embroidery Workshop, and Xixiang Subdistrict Occupational Health Centre. They gained an understanding of the employment opportunities and employment services support available for people with disabilities, as well as the support in terms of vocational rehabilitation, assessment services, and barrier-free facilities in Shenzhen.

 

The organisation for people with disabilities in Baoan’s collaboration with the business sectors shares a good example of offering vocational skills training and achieving a flexible employment model for people with disabilities. We look forward to staying connected with the Baoan Disabled Persons' Federation to exchange experiences in skills training and employment support services for people with disabilities.

 

The team also visited Vocational and Professional Education Services (Shenzhen) Company Limited (VPES), a subsidiary of the Vocational Training Council in Shenzhen. Through the presentation given by colleagues at VPES, the team gained a deeper understanding of vocational and professional education and training, as well as industry integration and development in mainland China.
